Today non-OFP news about freeware game Crayon Physics.
If you don't know what it is, who is it's autor and what does he do, check Kloonigames
Let's think why that game was a success:
1. Puzzle genre. Games of this type has simple rules, are very addictive, don't need much
engagement (you don't have to remember all the swords types, where's the character that gives you
important informaton etc.), there are many ways to achieve goal, everyone can play it: your brother,
sister, mum, kid. You can play at work and quickly turn off so the boss won't catch you.
In the past many puzzle games were a success. For example: Tetris, Lemmings, Boulder Dash.
2. Simple controlling, lack of status bar, life count, etc. It makes player's distance to the game shorter.
3. Good music & graphics. Realistic crayon graphics and music, that don't bother, increases playability.
4. Unlimited Imagination. You can draw anyhing you want... Well, not really, because you're limited by
the physics engine. Anyway it's a step in the right direction.
I wish Petri many other hits and prizes.
